1. Check the Lightning Cable

2. Check Charging Port

6. Put iPhone in DFU Mode

If you can access the device, you may want to put the device in DFU mode to help eliminate some of the bugs that could cause it to fail to charge. Here's how to put an iPhone in DFU mode.

Step 1: Connect your iPhone to Mac

Step 2: Hold down the power button and home button (or volume button if you have iPhone 8 and newer) for 5-10 seconds simultaneously

Step 3: After 10 seconds, release the power button but continue to hold the home/volume button for another 5 seconds

Step 4: If the screen stays black, then your iPhone is in DFU mode. Check if there is an alert in iTunes that the device was detected in recovery mode. To exit the DFU mode, force restart your iPhone.
